Laura Prosko is a community leader, executive, and champion for Squamish who believes strong communities are built through collaboration, responsible leadership, and people willing to step forward and serve. With more than 15 years of senior leadership experience, Laura is running for Council to help build a sustainable Squamish where families, businesses, seniors, and future generations can thrive.

Proud to call Squamish home, Laura has fallen in love with the mountains, forests, trails, and waterfront that make our community so extraordinary. Raising her daughter here has only deepened her commitment to protecting what makes Squamish special - balancing growth with environmental stewardship, fiscal responsibility, housing affordability, and opportunity for everyone who calls it home.

Laura has spent her career in senior leadership roles on some of British Columbia's largest infrastructure and energy projects - including Enbridge, Woodfibre LNG, and the Massey Tunnel Replacement Project - overseeing stakeholder engagement and strategic partnerships on initiatives with a combined value of approximately $25 billion. Along the way, she has built an extensive network of relationships throughout British Columbia - with governments, Indigenous partners, executives, media and organizations - and earned a reputation for turning complex challenges into collaborative, practical solutions.

Her commitment to community runs well beyond her career. Laura has served on boards and volunteered with organizations including the Squamish Chamber of Commerce, Westwinds Squamish Senior Living Society, Rotary, the International Heritage Cultural Centre Society, local Parent Advisory Committees, and Community Bridge, which provides counselling and support services for individuals and families. She's also an experienced speaker and emcee, with a network of media contacts and community connections.

With experience on more than 13 municipal, provincial, and federal campaigns, Laura understands how government works, how decisions get made, and how meaningful partnerships create results. Her extensive network throughout British Columbia - built over years of working alongside elected officials, senior government leaders, Indigenous leaders, media and business executives - is one she'll bring to the Council table on day one: opening doors, building strategic partnerships, and making sure Squamish has a strong voice at every level of government.

Before her career, Laura attended post-secondary school in the United States. In her younger years, she represented her community as Miss Edmonton Eskimo and spent several years as an Edmonton Eskimo Cheerleader - a commitment rooted in the same community values she carries with her today.

Family is at the centre of Laura's life. Her daughter - an honours student, competitive dancer, pianist, and golfer fluent in English and French and studying Korean - has grown up immersed in everything Squamish offers, and the two share a love of travel. Laura is equally inspired by her 91-year-old mother, whose independence and optimism remind her that great communities support people at every stage of life. This past year, three generations travelled together to France while Laura's daughter took part in the Squamish Rotary Youth Exchange - a trip that captured everything the family values about culture and connection.

Outside of work and community service, Laura enjoys travelling, hiking, and spending time on the water. She's a supporter of the arts, regularly attending ballets, concerts, and theatre, and a devoted sports fan who loves baseball, soccer, football, and hockey. Most of all, she treasures time spent with family and friends. Fun fact: Laura and her daughter have both appeared in a Hallmark movie.

Laura is running for Council because she believes in Squamish's future - its unique character, its local economy, its families and seniors, and its potential to grow responsibly without losing what makes it special.
